About Guelph For Rent

Guelph For Rent is operated by DistrictIQ Inc., Brokerage, a registered Ontario real-estate brokerage. That is worth stating plainly, because it explains both what this site is and what it is not.

The brokerage runs a rental and property search at districtiq.ca (opens DistrictIQ in a new tab) where the live listings live. This site carries no listings, no prices and no availability.

Guelph is a city where the rental market runs on an academic timetable, and almost nothing published about renting here says so. This site collects the public data that does exist — the Ministry’s school file, the 2021 Census, CMHC’s rent survey and the City’s open data — and puts the source on every figure.

It covers 49 publicly funded schools and 6 neighbourhoods. That neighbourhood number is deliberately small: the only boundary layer the City publishes under an open licence is its Neighbourhood Group areas, and a richer 2013 layer carries no licence at all. Rather than redraw those areas ourselves or publish a name with a guessed shape, the pages stop where the licensed data stops — and the eleven names that fall outside it are listed, with the reason, on the data page.

The same restraint applies to the rest of the site. There is no Guelph rent figure by neighbourhood here, because CMHC does not survey at that scale and nobody else measures it credibly; there is no ranking of schools, because EQAO publishes results rather than scores. Where a question cannot be answered from public data, the page says so instead of estimating.

When a page links to DistrictIQ it says so, names the destination, and only claims a page exists when that page was verified to exist. If we have no useful destination for a school or a neighbourhood, the link says that too.
